On copyright and advice

Sun Jun 25, 2006, 2:01 PM
First all, I'm aware that dA is changing the copyright policies here and honestly I couldn't care less. My position regarding this issue is, and always will be, the following:

All and every single deviation I create and submit here or anywhere has no copyright. You are completely free to: use, reproduce, distribute, interpret, misinterpret, distort, mash it up, love it, hate it, hack it, exploit it, make yourself rich with it, even claim your authorship, without my consent or the permission of anybody.

On the other hand, I really enjoy when someone send me a message asking for any kind of advice, I find that particulary rejoicing, the mere act of helping others achieving their goals makes me feel really good, and despite the fact that I'm a technology consultant therefore that's my work and it actually pays my bills, I'm the first to maintain that money should never interfere between a person and her/his dreams. That said, feel free to contact me, always, anytime. I will do my best to reply you on time.

How do you make your icons? At what dpi do you start?? Yours look very well done.
:iconnano-online:
Why thank you! I'm glad you like them  Regarding the icon's creation process, I have no, let's say, structured procedure or approach, honestly I mostly start creating an icon when some applicacion I'm using lacks of it. About the resolution, I sitck with the standard for screen, which is 72 dpi. If I'm not mashing up other artwork, then I pretty much tend to work with vectors, therefore staying resolution-independent.

Thank you that does help on my start of making a few.... I always started HUGE and then took them down, but that is not always the best way..

I started carrying a disclaimer on some of my work because I got tired of people asking if they could post it here or there. Post it everywhere!!! If you translate it, give me a copy so I can post it in more languages! However I do not want people to make money directly off of my works. Indirectly is next to impossible to stop. Even as a "free" service DA is still making money. Or they would not be able to pay bills.

Thanks much, sounds like a good cause too. I will be checking your gallery. And i celebrate a world with lot of licensing options, we don't have to agree in everything, there's shades of gray and indeed the differences makes us more interesting and let us learn from each other :D

I suppose I should add to it. I only do essays, so I do not have to worry about art. However I should add printed and translated to it. Any other ideas? I do not want people to edit or alter it, because I do not want anything I write to be taken out of context. But knowledge (or my limited amount) should always be shared at no cost. If I am wrong it is because I am too poor to afford a proper education here in the Fascist States of America :P
